Alton Towers
Alton Towers- Is a theme park located in Staffordshire. It is owned by Merlin Entertainments and is in the private sector and its aim is to make a profit from selling tickets, products and services to its customers and also to grow the business to make it
worth more and maximise the profit so it can pay a dividend to their share holders.Alton towers isn't just for rides either, it has a hotel, a spa, golf facilities and a water park. They have multiple souvenir shops and they offer you a ticket on the way out of the park to come back for a second day the day after you have been for just £4.80.
One of the regulations Alton Towers complies with is DDA which is the Disability Discrimination Act. The 1995 Disability Discrimination Act has had a considerable impact on the UK tourism industry, creating greater awareness of the benefits of welcoming disabled customers, as well as highlighting potential area of discrimination in employment and the provision of services. This paper revisits some of the issues, assesses the current situation and, in particular, looks at the implications for the industry of 2004, when consideration will need to be given to the adaptation of premises. Alton Towers has facilities for the disabled to use such as ramps for wheelchairs, toilets, and lots more. They also have a leaflet that explains it all.
Health and Safety at Work Act
Under the HASAW Act 1974 are many specific Regulations which relate to work activities on site. The principle requirement being to undertake risk assessments to identify ‘hazards’ and assess the risk under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.Alton Towers have to make sure their park is safe at all times for their visitors. They do this by making sure the rides are as safe as possible and if there is even a little technical fault they shut the ride down. Most of the rides are computerised now so that it detects anything wrong and tells you on a screen, this shuts itself down making it safer than manually because the computer might find something a worker can't.
Stakeholders and Shareholders
Stakeholders are people like customers, shareholders, managers and the local community who are interested in how the business is getting on and want to use their products and services.
Shareholders are also people from the local community and members of the organisation who worry about the pollution the park will bring and want to benefit from what it does bring such as profit and merchandise.
Environmental policy- Alton Towers has been contributing to the well-being of thieir community for hundreds of years.
They will aim to use local suppliers and labour wherever possible. They not only
spend large sums of money in the County by using local suppliers wherever
possible (Around 150 at the last count), but we are also the sole catalyst for
the development of many support Businesses– from B&BS to grocers to taxi firms – who, without the resort and its visitors, would not be as viable.

2.1 million Jobs in tourism (7% of UK employment) Provides a range of job types and skill levels for all age groups.

Contribution to the Economy
TUI's contribution to the UK economy is negative because the main thing TUI does is give people holidays which means that they are spending money oversea rather than here. This outbound tourism is having an affect to the UK economy because they now have to sen money overseas so there is less money for us.
In the four years, 2007 to 2010, the market share of all-inclusive doubled from 17% to 34% in the UK, driven in part by difficult economic conditions in our source markets. As well as quality, memorable holiday experiences, customers are looking for excellent value and financial peace of mind and, for many families, the existence of all-inclusive options may mean the difference between taking a holiday or not.
In response to this growth in demand, TUI Travel made the decision to assign all-inclusive holidays to specific brand identities. First Choice in the UK became solely all-inclusive from April 2012, and its Holiday Village and Splashworld hotels have become well established within the all-inclusive holiday market. From 2014, SuneoClub will be the first all-inclusive concept designed by TUI Travel with customers from a variety of source markets in mind.
